Welcome

Established in 2021, Quaking Aspen Valais became one of the first farms in New York State to lamb Swiss Valais Blacknose sheep. Thanks to dedicated U.S. Shepherds and those from New Zealand and the UK who had the ability and vision to bring “The cutest sheep in the world” genetics to U.S. soil in October,  2017. Those genetics (semen) resulted in the first 50% lambs being born in the U.S.A at the end of February, 2018.  In 2021, the first purebred Valais were born at farms in the U.S. via embryo transplant and the excitement has been growing ever since!  On January 13, 2022, QAV’s first F2 twin lambs were born on our farm which are possibly the first-born lambs using the “new” U.S.A. purebred Valais rams and we couldn’t be more proud!  Sire of our lambs is PV Atlas (#1443), an American purebred Ram from Shepherds Lane of Oregon. This happened because of the dedication, knowledge, and perseverance of  Joy and Martin Dally, and other producers like them, from whom we acquired our first crossbred-foundation ewe, Hazel.  It all started in 2013, when the first VBS were exported out of Switzerland into the UK (then to New Zealand) and it is very exciting that only a few short years later, we are proud to have them here at Quaking Aspen farm. A big Thank You to Swiss Shepherds for allowing the world to enjoy what is truly “their” national breed and treasure!

May we always strive to breed to your Swiss standard!
