Thank you for visiting Quaking Aspen Valais. We are a small sheep farm in Western New York State, dedicated to breeding U.S. Valais Blacknose sheep to meet the Swiss standard. As a breeder of Polish Lowland Sheepdogs for the past 15 years, it is my newest passion to join the ranks of Breeder and Shepherd of this amazing breed of sheep. With the help and knowledge of wonderful sheep friends across the globe and here at home, I am delighted to offer and raise these beautiful sheep for the delight of all.
My Story
Like anyone who first sets eyes upon these lovely sheep, you can’t help but fall in love with the look of such an amazing animal. I cannot remember the first time I saw pictures of them many years ago, but I do know the passion has been brewing for quite some time. Then in 2017, while visiting Switzerland with friends, I had the pleasure of visiting a special place in the Swiss Alps to meet these beautiful sheep as we hiked up the mountains to the fields where they were grazing happily. It was truly the highlight of my European trip as my heart raced at the sight of them! We were most welcomed by Shepherdess Jris Scharli-Hofer, her adorable blonde-haired boys and sheep, and the dream became a ‘seed’ right then and there. As I was researching the breed, I discovered shepherds here in the U.S.A. were able to start the process of getting semen and embryos into our country, for which I am profoundly grateful….and the adventure began! Today, I am very proud to have lambed our very first F2, 75% twin Valais lambs and thoroughly enjoying the prospect of breeding up to100% Valais here in the U.S.A. and especially, here at our farm.
